Engineer Equipment Mechanic
The purpose of any Marine Corps maintenance facility is to maintain a high state of readiness on behalf of the unit commander. In reference to Marine Corps Bulletin 3000, items of equipment will fall into (2) categories:
Principle End Items (PEI) and Mission Essential Equipment (MEE).
The Mission Essential Equipment are items of equipment whose availability is essential and indispensable for the execution of the mission essential tasks of the unit in support of the combatant commander.
The engineer equipment mechanic along with the assistance of the operator is responsible for the up keep of all engineer equipment assets assigned to the unit. The engineer equipment mechanic will perform preventive maintenance and make repairs to diesel engines and gasoline and diesel driven construction equipment such as tractors, power shovels, road machinery, air compressors, concrete mixers and other engine driven or towed construction equipment in an effort to maintain a high state of readiness on behalf of the unit commander.
